My Inspiration: Keith Haring

"Whatever you want to do, the only secret is to believe in it and satisfy yourself. Don't do it for anyone else." - Keith Haring

"Art is nothing if you don't reach every segment of people." - Keith Haring

Iconic 1980's Grafitti/Pop Artist Keith Haring passed away 27 yrs ago on Feb 16th. He was one of the first artists to open a Pop-up Shop (in 1986) and sell his work printed on fashion pieces and other items. This move made his art accessible to everyone.

The documentary featured below is a great piece on how Keith Haring's art, activism, & personality made a positive impact on Collingwood, Melbourne, Australia in 1984. And how 30+ years later the community and city worked to restore and preserve his 1984 mural.

Artsy Fartsy History: Graphic Design

Graphic Means is a documentary about the pre-computer Cut & Paste Era of Graphic Design, and you (and I) can get it on to Netflix by heading HERE. I know that as a Graphic Designer I can't wait to see this doc about the history of a profession that I love.

Arty Fartsy: Old Skool Ads

I recently dug out my three binders full of print Ad's from the late 1990's to the early to mid-2000's, and I started an Instagram account to share them. Head on over to my OldSkoolAds to see some throwback Advertising like the Ikea Ads (from 1999) featured below.

Life On The Big Screen: Other People

My mother passed away after a year-long battle with brain cancer in Feb 2015, so Other People from writer/director Chris Kelly hits home with me all the way down to the laxatives, beautiful revelations, family/sibling drama, and crying/breaking down in public. Sometimes it's refreshing to see real life captured on the screen; it's based on director/writer Chris Kelly's experience with his mother's illness and death in 2009. This movie is the story of our generation and generations to come. And you can now watch it on Netflix (Canada).

I Heart: The Tale of Thomas Burberry

I totally just got sucked into this Burberry Ad over on Youtube cause it contains three of my fav things history, fashion & design. It's also a pretty mesmerizing Ad that happens to be masquerading as a film trailer. If it was actually a movie I'd go see it.

Bonne Fête Coco Chanel!

Happy Birthday, Coco Chanel. Your innovative thinking help changed the fashion word for the better. It did away with corsets and pageantry and brought in clothing that allowed women to take an active part in the world they live.

I love these Inside Chanel Series that Channel produced a few years ago. The one below is one of my faves, you can see the rest of the series HERE

Design I Admire: Stranger Things

I can't get enough of the Stranger Things opening sequence. It fills me full of 1980's nostalgia. I love this video on how Stranger Things got it's retro opening credits. It must have been a fun project to work on.

iDesigned: Branding

Just some branding I've done over the past few years.
