Life On The Big Screen: Other People

My mother passed away after a year-long battle with brain cancer in Feb 2015, so Other People from writer/director Chris Kelly hits home with me all the way down to the laxatives, beautiful revelations, family/sibling drama, and crying/breaking down in public. Sometimes it's refreshing to see real life captured on the screen; it's based on director/writer Chris Kelly's experience with his mother's illness and death in 2009. This movie is the story of our generation and generations to come. And you can now watch it on Netflix (Canada).

A struggling comedy writer, fresh from breaking up with his boyfriend, moves to Sacramento to help his sick mother. Living with his conservative father and younger sisters, David feels like a stranger in his childhood home. As his mother worsens, he tries to convince everyone (including himself) he's "doing okay."
